What's the difference between #essentialoils and #fragranceoils?
The truth is one is completely natural, the other synthetic or manmade. Essential oils are obtained by distilling pure plant extracts and used for scenting, flavouring or healing in aromatherapy. Fragrance oils are synthetically made or lab made chemical scents. Fragrance oils having been designed are able to hold a stronger and longer lasting scent. they are much cheaper and this is the reason the majority of candles are made using fragrance oils. If only pure essential oils were used the candles would be far more expensive.
That being said, how do some fragrance oils claim to be natural?
This is because synthetic fragrance oils are completely manmade from chemical compounds that do not exist in the natural world. they often contain petroleum products that are used as carrier oils. Avoid these if you have sensitivities or allergies as they are a lot more irritant. The cheaper fragrance candles are likely to be made with these and they hold their scent for longer periods.
Fragrance oils that claim to be natural are made in a laboratory but from natural aromatic components. There are still widely differing opinions as to whether the can be thought of as truly natural.
In my candles I try to use a blend of natural fragrance oils and essential oils. This is to keep cost of candles to a level people are actually prepared to pay and to ensure a good scent throw.
I have a new range of wax melts out, some of these are scented with only pure essential oils. Whilst I don't claim to have any aromatherapy qualifications, the blends and mixes of oils have been made after discussion with a qualified aromatherapist and advice regarding the benefits.
They have been made using soy wax so emit no harsh toxins, they are slightly more expensive than the wax melts using the fragrance oils, but again, I only use natural fragrance oils where possible.

They take a little longer to heat to start emitting their scent but when they do you receive all the benefits of the gentle aromas that linger in the room. They will be available in store in the next couple of days, just completing my test melts and product reviews.
Melts using fragrance oils will also be available with some beautiful aromas, so the choice is yours!
